What did people do before the common lube? My mom says she used to use baby oil is this true?

I would say most likely she did lol. That doesn’t mean that it’s ok for you to use however because oil is never good for the vagina. The most common thing used for lubricant was probavbly vegetable oil. There are actually record of Greeks using olive oil for lubrication dating back as far as 350 B.C. Aristotle actually wrote about women using olive oil, cedar oil, lead and frankincense as a way to increase the contraceptive powers of the vagina (yes lead…) Olive oil was used pretty much through the western world until the invention of the common lube however in Japan throughout the 1600s-1800s couples used tototo-jiru which was made from grating Chinese yams and combining them with vegetable oil. So basically anything slick and wet was used. In more recent years however people used baby oil, vaseline, and cooking oils. Doesn’t sound very sexy eh?
